Muse is a solo journaling horror game about an artist haunted by an eldritch muse to create works infused with dark powers. It is a tragic game that chronicles the slow process of your artist being consumed by their muse and the cursed art that they create along the way.

CREATE YOUR ARTIST

Your artist can be of any discipline: a painter, writer, game designer, or dancer just to name a few, but at the conclusion of the game, they will meet an untimely end.

CREATE YOUR MUSE

Your muse is an otherworldly, eldritch being that lives outside of the constraints of normal, physical reality. They inspire you to create works of great beauty and great horror, infusing your creations with eldritch power that perform terrible, wonderful, unspeakable miracles. Beyond all other things, your muse drives you to always create.

CONTENT WARNINGS

Isolation, visual and auditory hallucinations, death, eldritch horror

Muse is a game of tragedy and deals with dark themes communicated through journaling prompts as your artist slips further under the control of their muse. As part of this descent, your artist will damage relationships with their close contacts and become more isolated, becoming more vulnerable to the Muse's influence. This journey may not be for everyone, so please approach this game with care.

More About the Game

  • Muse is a solo game, it includes a fully illustrated, 18 page rulebook and the character sheet

  • It takes between 2 and 6 hours to play, depending on how quickly your artist falls prey to their Muse

  • Your artist can be any artistic discipline: painter, writer, game designer, dancer, etc.

  • Because I don't think Muse is for everyone, I made it free. If you play the game and like it, drop me a buck or two.

A Game to Crossover with other games

When you're done playing Muse, you'll have a list of eldritch artifacts, details of their mystical effects and the stories of the artist who made them and met an untimely end. Take your eldritch items into other TTRPGs you are GMing and let your players discover them and learn the story of your ill-fated artist.
